Given that I’m writing a ruralmance, I don’t expect the big budget Hollywood film producers to come knocking to adapt it, as it’s a mostly romantic tale of love in a Somerset village, but I can’t help fantasising that ITV might be able to do a half decent adaptation of the story. It does seem right up their alley! I mean, breathtaking countryside, small village cast, love, sex, family conflict, a bucket of assorted booze…any commissioning editors out there who want to take a punt?! *Points to contact details*
With this in mind, when a small attack of verbal constipation (aka Writers’ Block) struck last week, I decided to try to visualise what the promotional posters might look like, should Far From the Tree ever be adapted for the small screen. As regular readers of this blog will know, I’ve pondered a lot of casting choices for the characters in the novel, as this helps me to get a visual handle on the scenes that I’m writing; the posters reflect some of those choices. I wouldn’t say that my choices of actor are completely true to the way I see my characters in my head, but they’re a pretty close match! My skills with Photoshop aren’t amazing, but I think the posters are a passable imitation of what I think they actually might look like, should the rights to the novel ever be optioned. As I say so often on this blog, a girl can dream! Would love to know what people think of the idea, and the actual posters, of course :).
